Ingredients

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup almond flour (or substitute with whole wheat flour)

1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce

1/2 cup honey or maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup diced apples (approximately 2 medium apples, peeled if desired)

1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts, pecans, or your favorite nut)

1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional for added sweetness)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8x8 inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper, ensuring there’s some overhang on the sides for easy removal later.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats and almond flour. Add the ground cinnamon and salt to the mixture, stirring thoroughly until evenly distributed.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the unsweetened apple sauce, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well blended.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir everything together until fully combined. Gently fold in the diced apples, chopped nuts, and raisins or cranberries if you choose to add them.

Prepare for Baking: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a spatula, press the mixture down firmly and evenly across the pan. This step is vital to ensure the bars remain intact once baked.

Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Keep a close watch as they near the end of baking; you’re looking for the edges to turn a lovely golden brown.

Cool: After baking, take the dish out of the oven and let it cool in the pan for approximately 10 minutes. Then, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the bars out and place them onto a wire rack for complete cooling.

Slice and Store: Once the bars have cooled completely, cut them into squares or rectangles. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for extended freshness.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 45 minutes | Servings: 12 bars

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve your snack bars on a rustic wooden board or a colorful plate, and consider garnishing with apple slices or a sprinkle of cinnamon for an extra touch before serving. Enjoy your nutritious and delicious treat!
