8 slices of thick-cut bacon, chopped into bite-sized pieces

4 cups frozen hash browns, fully thawed

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded

1/2 cup whole milk

6 large eggs

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

1/4 cup green onions, sliced thinly (for garnish)

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to preheat at 375°F (190°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish by greasing it with non-stick cooking spray or a light coating of butter to prevent sticking.

    Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the chopped bacon pieces. Cook for approximately 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the bacon is crispy and browned. Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain off any excess grease.

      Layer Hash Browns: Carefully drain the skillet, reserving about 1 tablespoon of bacon fat for flavor. Add the thawed hash browns to the skillet, pressing them down into an even layer. Cook for 4-5 minutes without stirring until the bottom begins to develop a nice, golden crust.

        Combine Eggs and Seasoning: In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them together with the milk, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until all ingredients are fully incorporated and the mixture is slightly frothy.

          Assemble the Casserole: Evenly distribute the crisp-cooked bacon over the layer of hash browns in the skillet.
