Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 lb ground turkey or chicken

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)

For the Cranberry Glaze:

1 cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)

1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

Zest of one orange

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of heat)

Instructions

Preheat Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the meatballs.

      Make the Meatballs:

In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the ground turkey or chicken, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the ingredients are evenly distributed and form a cohesive mixture.

          Form the Meatballs:

With damp hands, shape the mixture into approximately 1-inch meatballs. You should yield around 20-24 meatballs, which will provide the perfect bite-sized portions.

              Sear the Meatballs:

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches (be careful not to overcrowd the skillet) and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are beautifully golden brown. Once browned, transfer the meatballs to a baking dish.

                  Prepare the Glaze:

In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberry sauce, freshly squeezed orange juice, soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, orange zest, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is warmed through and slightly thickened, which should take about 5-7 minutes.

                      Combine Meatballs with Glaze:

Once the glaze has thickened slightly, drizzle it over the seared meatballs in the baking dish, ensuring each meatball is generously coated in the sweet and tangy sauce.

                          Bake:

Carefully place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and have reached an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

                              Serve:

Remove the meatballs from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, generously drizzled with any remaining glaze, and consider garnishing with fresh parsley for an added touch of color and flavor.

Enjoy these delectable Cranberry-Orange Glazed Meatballs as a standout appetizer or a flavorful main dish at your next gathering!
