Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and pressed

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Tofu: Begin by draining the tofu and pressing it between layers of paper towels with a heavy object, such as a cast iron skillet, for at least 30 minutes. This process removes excess moisture, ensuring the tofu will crisp up nicely. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes, aiming for approximately 1-inch pieces.

Coat the Tofu: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Gently toss the pressed tofu cubes in this mixture until they are evenly coated. Lightly shake off any excess cornstarch.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. To check if the oil is ready, you can drop a small piece of tofu into the skillet; it should sizzle immediately upon contact.

Fry the Tofu: Carefully place the coated tofu cubes into the hot oil in a single layer. Fry them for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side until they turn a beautiful golden brown and develop a crispy exterior. You may need to fry the tofu in batches to prevent overcrowding the skillet. As each batch finishes, transfer the tofu to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Make the Sriracha Honey Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir the mixture continuously until well blended and heated through, which should take around 2-3 minutes. Once warmed, remove the saucepan from the heat.

Combine Tofu and Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, gently toss the crispy tofu bites with the Sriracha honey sauce, ensuring that each piece is thoroughly coated.

Serve: Arrange the crunchy Sriracha honey tofu bites on a serving platter and generously garnish them with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and texture. Enjoy these delicious bites warm as an appetizer, snack, or as part of a delightful main course!
