Ingredients

2 ripe bananas

1 cup dark chocolate chips (substitute with milk chocolate chips for a sweeter flavor)

1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional – helps to create a smoother chocolate coating)

Sea salt, for finishing

Finely chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or peanuts), for optional garnish

Toasted coconut flakes, for optional garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Bananas: Start by peeling the ripe bananas. Slice them into 1-inch thick rounds and place the rounds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, mix together the chocolate chips and coconut oil, if using. Heat in the microwave, using 30-second increments and stirring well in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and has a smooth texture.

Coat the Banana Slices: Using a fork, carefully dip each banana slice into the melted chocolate, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. Once coated, lift the banana slice out of the chocolate and gently tap it against the edge of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate.

Garnish: Return the chocolate-covered banana slice to the parchment-lined baking sheet. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and any desired garnish, such as finely chopped nuts or toasted coconut flakes, to enhance the flavor and texture.

Freeze: After all banana slices have been coated and garnished, transfer the baking sheet to the freezer. Allow the treats to freeze for at least 1 to 2 hours, or until the chocolate coating has set firmly.

Serve: Once frozen, gently remove the chocolate banana bites from the parchment paper. Store them in an airtight container in the freezer. These delightful bites make for a quick and satisfying sweet treat whenever you're in the mood!
