Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest and juice of 2 limes

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 head of butter or romaine lettuce, leaves carefully separated

1 avocado, diced

1 cup diced tomatoes

1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped

Fresh lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Shrimp: In a mixing bowl, add the peeled and deveined shrimp. Pour in the olive oil, then add the minced garlic, lime zest, lime juice, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Toss the mixture gently until all the shrimp are evenly coated with the marinade. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated shrimp in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook the shrimp for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the cooked shrimp with fresh chopped cilantro and parsley for added freshness.

Prepare the Lettuce Wraps: On a serving platter, make sure to arrange the separated lettuce leaves. These will serve as the “wraps” for your delicious shrimp mixture.

Assemble the Wraps: For each lettuce leaf, place several pieces of the warm shrimp on top. Follow with a few spoonfuls of diced avocado, a healthy amount of tomatoes, and a sprinkle of finely chopped red onion. For an extra zesty touch, squeeze additional lime juice over each assembled wrap.

Serve: Enjoy the wraps immediately while the shrimp is still warm. Provide lime wedges on the side for those who crave an extra burst of citrus flavor.

Presentation Tips: To elevate the visual appeal, consider garnishing the platter with additional sprigs of cilantro or lime slices, and serve each plate with a small bowl of the remaining diced avocado or a salsa for dipping. Enjoy!
