Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 for optimal juiciness)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

12 large leaves of romaine lettuce (or tender butter lettuce)

1/2 cup fresh tomatoes, diced

1/4 cup pickles, thinly sliced

1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional, for extra creaminess)

Ketchup and mustard, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to combine, being careful not to overwork the meat as this can make the patties tough.

Shape the Mini Patties: Divide the seasoned beef mixture into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it gently into mini patties about 1/2 inch thick.

Cook the Patties: Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Add the mini patties to the pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side. The patties should be nicely browned and cooked through to your preferred level of doneness. In the last minute of cooking, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over each patty and cover the pan with a lid to allow the cheese to melt.

Prepare the Lettuce Wraps: While the mini patties are cooking, rinse the romaine lettuce leaves under cold water and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. Trim the stems at the base of the leaves if they're too thick or stiff for easy wrapping.

Assemble the Wraps: On each lettuce leaf, place one mini cheeseburger patty. Top the patties with diced tomatoes, sliced pickles, chopped red onions, and a dollop of mayonnaise if using. Drizzle with ketchup and mustard according to your taste.

Serve: Gather the edges of the lettuce leaves around the fillings to create a wrap, and serve immediately. These delightful bites are best when enjoyed fresh and warm!

                - Presentation Tips: Arrange the assembled lettuce wraps on a serving platter. You can garnish the plate with extra diced tomatoes and pickles to add a pop of color, making for an appetizing presentation!
