Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (6 oz each, skin on or off based on preference)

1 bunch of asparagus, ends trimmed

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated (optional for an extra zing)

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish

Fresh cilantro or parsley, finely chopped, for garnish

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for cooking the salmon.

Prepare the sauce: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, low-sodium soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger (if using). This mixture will create a deliciously sweet and savory glaze for your salmon.

Season the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides liberal with salt and black pepper to enhance the flavor of the fish.

Sauté the asparagus: In a large, oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the trimmed asparagus to the skillet. Sauté for approximately 3-4 minutes until the asparagus turns bright green and begins to soften slightly, but remains crisp. Once done, remove the asparagus from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.

Sear the salmon: In the same skillet, place the seasoned salmon fillets skin-side down (if applicable). Sear for about 3-4 minutes without moving them until the bottom develops a golden brown crust.

Combine everything: Carefully pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the seared salmon fillets in the skillet. Add the sautéed asparagus back to the skillet, arranging it around the salmon so it can soak up the flavorful sauce.

Bake in the oven: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the salmon is fully cooked and flakes easily when tested with a fork. The asparagus should be tender yet still have a delightful crunch.

Garnish and serve: Once cooked, remove the skillet from the oven. Sprinkle the top with sesame seeds for a nice crunch and freshness from finely chopped cilantro or parsley. Serve immediately alongside fresh lemon wedges to add a zesty finish to your dish.

Enjoy your delightful One-Pan Honey Garlic Salmon with Asparagus!
