  • 0.45 kilogram store-bought gnocchi
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 5 pieces fresh sage leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions
 

  • Cook the Gnocchi: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions, typically about 2-3 minutes, or until they float to the top. Drain and set aside.
  • Sauté the Sage: In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the chopped sage leaves. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and slightly crispy.
  • Create the Cream Sauce: Lower the heat to medium-low, and slowly pour in the heavy cream. Stir well to combine with the sage. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  • Add the Parmesan: Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce, stirring continuously until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy.
  • Season the Sauce: Taste the sauce, and season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of freshly ground nutmeg if desired.
  • Combine Gnocchi and Sauce: Add the cooked gnocchi to the creamy sauce and gently toss to coat the gnocchi completely, ensuring they are well covered in sauce.
